Footprints In The Garden

Posted on February 2, 2025 by David Devaney

There is,this pathway mystical,
Where footprints do appear.
Of red bricks and old concrete squares,
Their names, all draw you near.

These were those benefactors,
Who gave their time and worth.
To make this “Garden Beautiful”,
A special place on earth.

For decades they have guided friends,
Through beauty uncompared.
And though the names and footprints fade,
Life’s memories are shared.

Revealing recollected times,
When this garden came to be.
So now here sculpted midst the bricks,
You'll find its legacy.

To read each name, you stoop and bend.
While fingers letter’s trace.
Finding there the energy,
Of this most special place.

You'll sense and feel the elegance,
Of beauty all about,
Then when your fingers touch each name,
True history comes out.

For these were the creators,
Of everything you see.
Where Mother Nature shares with friends,
Her wondrous legacy.

Recollected heroes found,
Who gave this park their love,
Step by step, still walk with friends,
Now guided from above.
